7 Jan

Woke up late, dressed, went out for lunch and shopping by Bond Street with Brooke, Lainey, Katie, Margaret, Liane, and Alesha (sp). We decided to take a train into town instead of the bus and caught one bound for London Bridge at the Denmark Hill station (the same one Sachi left from on the 5th). Soon after we boarded we were joined by an older man who was clearly drunk and had some vodka in a juice bottle with him. The girls weren’t really sure how to react and I said just to ignore him. They tried to make polite answers to his questions and we all laughed when he thought Margaret was Australian based on her accent. The ride was uneventful otherwise and we caught a Tube at London Bridge for Bond Street. Katie and Liane needed to look at cell phone stuff and so they did that while the rest of us wandered through some clothing shops. We were all hungry by this point (since we missed breakfast) and so we chose The Hog in the Pound pub for lunch. I had another sandwich that was pretty decent and we talked about settling in and all kinds of stuff during lunch. Brooke left us there to meet up with some friends. From there we walked some more through some high-end shops before Katie, Liane and I decided to split from the others in search of more practical things like adaptors and power strips. Liane commented that we had separated into groups based on socioeconomic status which Katie and I immediately objected to. I don’t think any of the girls could really afford the pretty things we were looking at, it was just that they like looking. I don’t mind looking as long as I can find a place where I actually intend to buy things too. Katie voiced her objection while I just thought mine. We wandered down Bond Street for a while until I saw a Wedgwood and Waterford store which I checked out for a few minutes. When we came upon Piccadilly Square I decided that I buy an Oyster card and go home while the other two continued to wander around. They ended up seeing a German play which was crazy but pretty good so that was good. I had a little bit of trouble filling out the paperwork for my card, because I was dumb and not because it wasn’t clear, but I finally paid my £22.20 and got my wonderful travelcard. I rode the Tube to Waterloo Station and from there caught a bus home. I ate a quiet dinner of bread, cheese, and an orange while updating my blog and reading some more of The Rule of Four. I went to bed around midnight but was awakened around 1 by people returning from The Fox and talking in the hall. I’m going to have to get used to that since I can hear almost anything from my room. Sound just travels so well in this hall…About fifteen minutes later I finally made it back to sleep.
