2 Jan

Woke up around 5 a.m. to a bloody fire alarm! You know you’re going to have a fun time in a dorm when you spend the morning of your first night waking up to a horrid sound that is definitely not your alarm clock. All dozen or so of the residents of King’s were outside as Sachi and I joined them half-asleep and a little alarmed (really, no pun intended). We slept in until around 10 then dressed and headed out. Bambi (his real name as I’ve found out is James, but everyone calls him Bambi) was at the reception and poor guy, he couldn’t go back to sleep after the alarm. Sachi and I boarded a bus for Camberwell Green (the mini shopping area close to the dorm and King’s College Hospital) and picked up a couple of pain aux chocolate for breakfast. We ate just on the sidewalk because I wanted to stay near a cell phone store I wanted to check out. We looked in a couple of places and I finally bought one for £30+£5 SIM card+£10 credit for a grand total of £45. I think that’s pretty expensive but I also didn’t feel like shopping around a whole lot. From there we caught a bus to the Strand Campus and since we were still pretty hungry, we stopped at a place called Pizza Express and had some pretty good pizza. From there we walked down Strand and Fleet Streets towards St. Paul’s Cathedral. The entry ticket to that cathedral was £7 for students which we both felt was excessive. I walked in as far as they would let me go without a ticket, snapped some pictures, then left to admire it from the outside. It’s a pretty place. We didn’t feel like staying out too late on our third day here so we caught a bus at St. Paul’s and headed back to King’s Hall. We stopped at Waterloo Station to pick up some groceries such as juice, bread, and some fruit. At home I chilled on the computer for a bit while Sachi read then fell asleep. I guess I felt full enough from lunch that I didn’t really want dinner and Sachi kept on sleeping past 9 so we both skipped dinner. We turned in early and called it a night.
